Artemis program ushers new chapter in lunar exploration

July 20, 2026 marks the 57th anniversary of Apollo 11, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first set foot on the Moon. Brazilian portal Terceiro Tempo used the milestone to recall Luis Anechini, a former footballer from Muzambinho nicknamed “Lua”, whose story appears in its “Que Fim Levou?” section.

NASA’s Artemis program, announced as the next step in human spaceflight, aims to return astronauts to the lunar surface and eventually establish a sustainable presence. The initiative is presented as a shift from short‑term visits to longer‑term exploration and habitation, building on the technological legacy of the Apollo era.

Artemis is described as a sign of a new era in space, with the United States leading the effort while the story receives coverage in Brazil, highlighting the global interest in renewed lunar missions.
