Artena restaurant targeted by arson on anniversary of Willy Monteiro murder

A restaurant in Artena, Italy, was targeted in an arson attack during the early hours of September 7, 2026. The incident occurred at ‘Da Ale’, owned by Alessandro Bianchi, on the sixth anniversary of the murder of Willy Monteiro Duarte.

Investigators found traces of flammable liquid at the scene, suggesting the substance was poured on the restaurant's shutter. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to identify the perpetrator. While the fire extinguished itself before firefighters arrived, causing damage to a shutter and a planter, the interior of the establishment remained largely untouched.

The owner, Alessandro Bianchi, is the older brother of Marco and Gabriele Bianchi, who are serving life sentences for the 2020 killing of Monteiro Duarte. The victim was a 21-year-old cook's assistant who was beaten to death in Colleferro after intervening to defend a friend. The Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to determine the motives behind the attack and whether it is linked to the family's connection to the previous homicide.
