Artena restaurant targeted in attempted arson

An attempted arson occurred in the early hours of September 7, 2026, at a restaurant in Artena, Rome, linked to one of the Bianchi brothers. The brothers were previously convicted in connection with the 2020 killing of Willy Monteiro Duarte.

According to investigators, an unknown individual approached the premises around 3:00 AM, poured a flammable liquid on the metal shutter, and set it on fire. The flames extinguished themselves shortly after without spreading into the building, resulting in minimal damage limited to a planter.

The incident took place exactly six years after the death of Willy Monteiro Duarte, who was killed following an assault in Colleferro. While the timing coincides with local commemorations held in Paliano and Colleferro, authorities stated there is currently no evidence linking the arson attempt to the anniversary of the homicide. The Carabinieri are conducting investigations to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive.
