Arter opens new group exhibition on ecological and political collapse
The contemporary art space Arter has opened a new group exhibition titled ‘Sonra yok. Sonrası şimdi.’ (There is no later. The aftermath is now.) at its Gallery 3. Curated by Delfin Öğütoğulları, the exhibition draws its title from Cormac McCarthy’s novel ‘The Road.’
Rather than treating the apocalypse as a single, sudden event, the exhibition explores the concept of a slow, ongoing collapse. It focuses on the existential, ecological, and political dimensions of a depleting world, highlighting long-term consequences caused by radiation, hydrocarbons, plastics, and global warming. The works aim to reveal the realities hidden behind popular disaster scenarios and media-driven narratives.
The exhibition features works from 21 artists, including Can Altay, Halil Altındere, Thomas Bayrle, Nermin Er, Ceal Floyer, Alison Knowles, Jarosław Kozłowski, Alicja Kwade, Nicholas Mangan, Olaf Metzel, Nam June Paik, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke, James Richards, Gerhard Rühm, Necla Rüzgar, Hrair Sarkissian, Sin Wai Kin, Amikam Toren, Nasan Tur, and Wolf Vostell.
