Artesa de Segre road improvements awarded 18 million euros

The Generalitat has awarded an 18 million euro contract for the improvement and conditioning of a 6.2-kilometer stretch of the L-512 road within the Eix de Comiols. The works will take place in the municipality of Artesa de Segre, specifically between the Pont d'Alentorn and Vall-llebrera.

The project aims to enhance functionality, safety, and comfort on this route, which serves as a primary access point to the Pallars region from central Catalonia, the Barcelona metropolitan area, and Tarragona. Key improvements include widening the roadway to 9 meters, constructing new road segments, adding a bus stop pull-off, and installing a pedestrian crossing in Vall-llebrera.

Infrastructure upgrades also include the rehabilitation and expansion of the Pont d'Alentorn over the Segre River, which will be widened to 13 meters to include a 2.5-meter sidewalk for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, safety improvements will be applied to the existing viaduct over the Segues River. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete, with works potentially finishing by mid-2028.
