Arthur Fils wins Cincinnati Masters, first French title since 2014

Arthur Fils won his first Masters 1000 title at the Cincinnati Open, defeating American Frances Tiafoe in the final with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-0. This victory marks the first time a French player has won a Masters 1000 tournament since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2014.

The 22-year-old Frenchman climbed ten places in the ATP rankings, moving to world number 11. This achievement comes after a period of recovery from significant hip and back injuries that had previously sidelined him. Fils noted that the win was a result of intense training and sacrifice, stating, “This title means much to me.”

Fils' performance in Cincinnati included victories over high-ranking players such as Alex de Minaur and Flavio Cobolli. He now heads into the US Open as a significant contender, positioned just 335 points away from breaking into the world top ten.
