Arthur Okonkwo joins Charlton Athletic on season-long loan from Wrexham

Charlton Athletic has officially announced the signing of Nigerian international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a season-long loan from Wrexham. The 24-year-old, who stands 6ft 6in, joins the Championship club as their eighth signing of the summer.

Okonkwo arrives following a successful period at Wrexham, where he played a key role in the club's back-to-back promotions. During his tenure with the Red Dragons, he recorded numerous clean sheets and helped the team secure a second-place finish in League One during the 2024-25 season.

Charlton manager Nathan Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, noting Okonkwo's shot-stopping abilities and his performance in previous matches against Charlton. Okonkwo, a former Arsenal academy graduate who has also played for Crewe Alexandra and Sturm Graz, stated he is eager to improve his skills and contribute to the team.
