Arthur Rinderknech withdraws from Shanghai Masters due to injury

French tennis player Arthur Rinderknech has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters 1000 due to an abdominal injury. The 31-year-old, currently ranked 33rd in the world, had previously been forced to withdraw from the ATP 500 in Beijing because of the same physical issue.

The withdrawal will have significant implications for Rinderknech’s ATP ranking. He is unable to defend the 650 points he earned by reaching the final in Shanghai last year. This loss of points could cause his total to drop from approximately 1,520 to around 870, potentially pushing him out of the top 50 for the first time this season.

Last year’s Shanghai final was a notable family event, as Rinderknech faced his cousin, Valentin Vacherot, in the championship match. Vacherot, then ranked 204th, won the title. Rinderknech has returned to France to focus on recovering from his injury.
