Arthur Smith has been hired as the offensive coordinator for Ohio State to revitalize an offense that struggled with explosiveness late last season. Following the departure of Brian Hartline to the University of South Florida, the Buckeyes' offense saw a decline in rushing production, finishing 72nd in the nation in rushing yards per game despite high passing efficiency.

Smith brings 15 years of NFL coaching experience, including stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, and Pittsburgh Steelers. His approach focuses on a structured, simplified playbook that emphasizes mastering basics and a strong rushing attack. This strategy has been well-received by offensive linemen and running backs, including sophomore Isaiah West and returning 1,000-yard rusher Bo Jackson. Smith is also expected to utilize frequent two- and three-tight end sets.
