Artificial intelligence advances in voice analysis and societal impact

Recent research involving nearly 7,000 participants demonstrates that artificial intelligence can accurately estimate a person's age and health status through just 30 seconds of voice recordings. By analyzing speech patterns, an AI model was able to determine a ‘voice age’ with high precision, showing an average error of only four to 4.4 years between estimated and actual age. This method outperformed traditional acoustic techniques like pitch or tremor analysis.

Beyond age estimation, the study explored whether a voice sounding older than a person's chronological age correlates with specific physical health characteristics. This suggests that AI-driven vocal analysis could potentially serve as a tool for monitoring biological aging and physiological well-being.

Separately, at the AI Summit, psychiatrist Dr. László Buda addressed the psychological and moral challenges posed by rapid technological advancement. He noted that humanity may require a ‘global software update’ to keep pace with AI, highlighting the tension between those who see unlimited opportunities and those who experience anxiety regarding the technology's impact on human relationships and societal structures.
