Artificial intelligence and the impact on decision-making and creativity

The integration of artificial intelligence into daily life is driven by more than just a desire for productivity and efficiency. While AI is often used to synthesize information and automate complex tasks, its adoption also serves a psychological function: providing relief from the emotional burden of decision-making. By offering decisive answers, AI acts as an emotional refuge against the uncertainty, responsibility, and the pain of renouncing alternative choices that accompany human judgment.

Furthermore, the use of automation in creative fields raises questions about the nature of the creative process. While some argue that delegating mechanical tasks—such as data collection or historical research—to machines allows humans to focus on essential creative elements like plot or melody, this division may be flawed. Because observation and data gathering involve inherent interpretation and meaning, bypassing these stages through automation may result in the loss of significant portions of the creative act.
