Artificial Intelligence drives transformation in dairy, biotech and agribusiness

Industry leaders highlighted artificial intelligence as a game‑changing tool for the dairy sector. Ian Stevenson, chief executive of the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland, said AI offers the “biggest opportunities ever” to shape consumer perception and substantiate sustainability claims, urging producers to provide clear data for AI‑driven search engines.

At the Hello Tomorrow Summit in Amsterdam, experts noted AI’s accelerating impact on agrifood biotechnology. SOSV partner Pae Wu described AI’s ability to unravel biological causality, while Nuritas CEO Nora Khaldi cited AI‑identified bioactive compounds in fava beans that outperform traditional milk proteins. Panels also warned that AI may not suit highly personalized food solutions and stressed the need to balance AI benefits against development costs.

In Brazil, speakers at the Minas Summit demonstrated AI‑powered cameras, optical sensors and digital‑twin models that detect crop diseases, water stress and silo fungi before they become critical. The technology also improves livestock weighing, disease monitoring and logistics, potentially saving up to US$95 million and cutting diesel use by 12 %. Collectively, these developments illustrate AI’s expanding role in enhancing productivity, sustainability and market confidence across the global agrifood chain.
