Artificial intelligence is increasingly being integrated into veterinary medicine as a support tool for analyzing exams and identifying patterns to assist in disease investigation. Following trends seen in human medicine, computational systems trained on large datasets can compare images, cells, and laboratory results to detect specific patterns.
In veterinary clinics and laboratories, these applications are being used for hematological, cytological, urinary, and parasitological analyses. Image processing systems can identify and classify structures within samples, organizing data for professional review.
While these technologies offer high computational capacity to analyze large volumes of information quickly, they do not replace the veterinarian. A final diagnosis still requires a professional to interpret laboratory data alongside the animal's age, species, clinical history, symptoms, physical examination, and current medications.
