Artificial intelligence evolution and cognitive scaling research

The evolution of artificial intelligence has transitioned from early rule-based systems to sophisticated neural networks capable of complex tasks such as coding, image generation, and report writing. While early AI research focused on encoding precise logical rules, the field shifted toward machine learning, where systems identify patterns within large datasets. This transition was further accelerated by the deep learning breakthroughs of the 2010s.

Recent research explores the fundamental differences between human and artificial cognition. While AI benefits from near-instantaneous access to vast amounts of internet-based information, studies regarding scaling suggest that humans may outperform AI in certain scaling capacities. Researchers are currently investigating how to effectively measure and compare the cognitive performance and scaling of biological brains against artificial neural networks.
