Artificial intelligence integration in smartphones and digital presence testing

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a central component of smartphone functionality. Beyond simple queries, AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Galaxy AI, and Apple Intelligence are being integrated into daily tasks including photo processing, translation, writing, and automation. Modern hardware is evolving to support this, with Neural Processing Units (NPUs) allowing models to run locally on the device rather than relying solely on the cloud. This shift enables smartphones to analyze context and act more autonomously within the operating system.

To track how companies are mentioned by these AI assistants, a specific testing protocol is required. Because AI responses vary based on formulation, location, and real-time search data, a single test is insufficient. A reliable method involves asking ten real-world questions to multiple assistants—such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot—using private browsing and a consistent order. Effective monitoring requires monthly tracking of whether a company is named, correctly described, and which sources are cited to identify long-term trends.
