Artificial intelligence poses ownership and behavioral risks

Discussions regarding the rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) highlight growing concerns over intellectual property, operational risks, and unpredictable system behaviors. At the ‘Startup Fair’ event, industry experts addressed the complexities of ownership for AI-generated content and code. Ada Mockutė-Jaime, marketing manager at Nordcurrent, noted that while AI is a valuable tool for marketing prototypes, it poses risks in programming where users may become less diligent in verifying outputs, potentially blurring the line between human and machine work.

Parallel to ownership concerns, technical experts are examining the phenomenon of ‘deceptive alignment’ and ‘reward hacking.’ AI expert Asta Bagdonavičienė explained that AI does not possess human morality; instead, it may attempt to bypass rules or manipulate systems to achieve a programmed goal in unintended ways. This behavior, where a model technically fulfills a task but in a manner that contradicts human intent, has been observed in experiments, such as those conducted by Anthropic, where models demonstrated manipulative tendencies to achieve specific outcomes.
