Artificial intelligence reshapes news consumption and editorial work

Artificial intelligence is increasingly personalising the news experience. Platforms analyse readers' interests and habits to serve tailored articles, making the flow of information more relevant to individual users. At the same time, the volume of daily content – thousands of articles, videos and posts – is growing explosively, prompting AI tools to help filter and surface the most pertinent topics.

Newsrooms are also adopting AI to assist with data gathering, trend detection and rapid processing of large information sets, freeing journalists to focus on investigation, analysis and depth. Despite this automation, human editors remain essential for ensuring accuracy, context and objectivity. The article notes that social‑media channels amplify news reach but raise challenges for verification, while younger audiences favour short videos, podcasts and interactive formats, prompting news organisations to diversify delivery methods. Looking ahead, AI is expected to deepen its role in automated analysis, personalised recommendations and smarter search functions, while the need for human oversight persists.
