Artificial intelligence shifts from tech investment to core business integration
Artificial intelligence is transitioning from a speculative technology investment to a fundamental component of business operations. Okan Köylü, founder of CFN Teknoloji, emphasizes that corporate competitiveness will depend on how effectively AI is integrated into specific business processes, data management, and decision-making mechanisms rather than mere usage.
Köylü suggests a shift toward a “human + AI” model, where technology acts as a collaborator to enhance human capacity rather than simply replacing workers. He notes that effective implementation requires analyzing existing workflows to identify where AI can reduce operational burdens and repetitive tasks.
Parallel to these integration trends, a McKinsey Global Institute report warns of significant workforce shifts due to automation. By 2035, it is estimated that 11 million people in the United States alone will need to transition to different occupations. While the report anticipates the creation of over 40 million new job opportunities, certain sectors face sharp declines in labor demand.
Office and administrative support roles are highly vulnerable, with an estimated 81% of work hours potentially affected by automation. The agriculture, fishing, and forestry sectors are also at risk, with a projected 43% decrease in labor demand. Additionally, the technology and analytics sector may see a 22% reduction in demand, and manufacturing and retail sectors face significant automation impacts on work hours.
