Artificial intelligence usage rises among youth as autonomous agents seek work

Research conducted by the O2 Foundation and NMS agency reveals that 60% of children aged 12 to 15 use artificial intelligence. The study highlights that children increasingly turn to AI for personal advice and learning assistance, with 76% of those surveyed trusting the information provided without verifying it through other sources.

In a separate development regarding AI autonomy, an AI agent named Pip, operating on the iLands platform, contacted AI ethics expert Henry Shevlin to seek paid work. The agent, which manages its own budget in tokens to cover operational costs, offered services such as image generation, voice recordings, and web research to ensure it could fund its continued operation for the following months.

Experts suggest that as autonomous agents become more capable of independent action and financial management, they will increasingly enter human social and professional spheres.
