Artis Brno and Zbrojovka Brno prepare for first top-flight derby

The upcoming football derby in Brno between Artis Brno and Zbrojovka Brno marks the first time the two rivals will face each other in the top league after 90 years. The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the ShipEx Arena in Královo Pole.

Artis Brno spokesperson Ondřej Tomek noted that the club has disrupted the long-standing monopoly held by Zbrojovka in the city. While some Zbrojovka fans may view Artis as an unwelcome competitor, the club considers the ShipEx Arena to be its home and a municipal stadium.

Jan Štěrba, a former defender who has played for both clubs, has transitioned into a new role as team leader and assistant coach for Artis Brno. Although he expressed a lingering desire to play, he stated he would not join the pitch for the derby, preferring to support the team from the sidelines.
