Artis Brno promoted to Czech Chance Liga amid Karviná corruption scandal

Artis Brno has been promoted to the Czech top-flight Chance Liga for the 2026/2027 season following a complex corruption scandal involving MFK Karviná. The FAČR Ethics Commission relegated Karviná to the second league after investigations revealed attempts to manipulate matches in the spring of 2024.

Police investigations indicated that Karviná's mayor, Jan Wolf, was involved in club structures and sought to influence league standings through meetings with opposing players. The vacancy in the elite league was filled by Artis Brno amidst a complicated administrative process involving UEFA pressures and the disqualification of Táborsko due to a missing signature. Meanwhile, the owner of Dukla Praha has expressed grievances, claiming the club was targeted and intends to seek financial compensation.
