Artisan Le Xuan Truong showcases traditional Ao dai at Hanoi festival

During the second Thang Long - Hanoi Festival held at the Temple of Literature, artisan Le Xuan Truong showcased traditional Ao dai craftsmanship. Combining silk from Meo village with Trach Xa sewing techniques, Truong created five-part Ao dai inspired by 1960s and 1970s styles.

Truong emphasizes that a beautiful garment must suit the wearer, noting that while older generations prefer traditional materials and subtle colors, younger people tend toward brighter colors and more comfortable silhouettes. He focuses on the tactile quality of silk and the precision of manual stitching.

Speaker and MC Thi Thao shared her personal connection to the garment, noting she often wears modernized Ao dai to reconnect with her history in Hanoi. She expressed that the Ao dai is most beautiful when a woman wears it because she truly wants to, rather than out of obligation.
