João Pessoa expands Black Artists Fair in Historic Center

The Black Artists Fair (Feira de Artistas Pretas e Pretos) is expanding its presence in the Historic Center of João Pessoa. Supported by the João Pessoa Cultural Foundation (Funjope), the initiative has established a permanent presence on Saturdays starting at 3:00 PM on Avenida General Osório.

The fair serves as a cultural circuit that brings together Black entrepreneurs and artists to exhibit and sell various products, including design items, jewelry, and cross-stitch embroidery. Marcus Alves, executive director of Funjope, stated that the initiative aims to strengthen and value the Historic Center through continuous and structured actions.

Curator Fátima Sousa noted that initial visitor numbers exceeded expectations. The project, which emerged from the Black women's movement in Paraíba, focuses on promoting Afro-Brazilian identity and supporting entrepreneurship, particularly among women.
