Artisans open workshop in historic Elgin firehouse

Artisans Rebecca Morris and Russ Osterloh have opened a combined gallery and workshop, Osterloh’s Originals, located in a historic 1918 firehouse at 901 Alder St. in Elgin.

Osterloh, a master furniture maker, purchased the building in April 2024 and underwent extensive remodeling to accommodate his woodworking machinery and lumber inventory. Morris, who specializes in resin art and mixed media, operates out of the middle bay of the building. The shop features a showroom displaying furniture, art, and lumber, with some pieces incorporating elements from both creators.
