Artist Fesih Özyurt opens 18th personal exhibition in Erzurum
Artist Fesih Özyurt has opened his 18th personal art exhibition at the Çifte Minareli Medrese in Erzurum. The exhibition features 47 oil paintings that reflect the cultural and historical values of the region, including depictions of Nene Hatun, the Sarıkamış martyrs, Narman Fairy Chimneys, and the Gaza tragedy.
A central piece of the collection is a painting dedicated to Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, the former leader of the Great Unity Party (BBP) who died in a helicopter crash in 2009. The artwork depicts the terrain where the accident occurred, serving as a tribute to ensure his memory remains with younger generations.
Özyurt, a retired visual arts instructor, transitioned his practice to a basement studio following his retirement and the pandemic. He expressed that his artistic roots were shaped by the longing for family experienced during his years in boarding schools, and he hopes his work encourages young people to engage with art.
