Artist Jessie Ng Jie Xin uses coffee as a unique painting medium

Artist Jessie Ng Jie Xin has developed a unique painting style using coffee as a medium. The 26-year-old freelance artist and educator discovered the technique by accident after spilling coffee during a painting session.

Ng utilizes varying concentrations of instant coffee powder to create detailed portraits and wedding paintings, noting that the single brown pigment can produce a wide range of shades, layers, and tones on paper. A graduate of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Ng specializes in live wedding painting, where she captures couples and their surroundings on canvas during events. Her work has also included corporate commissions for brands such as Victoria’s Secret.
