Artist Juliana Galbetti selected as finalist for Arte Laguna Prize

Brazilian artist Juliana Galbetti has been named a finalist for the 21st edition of the Arte Laguna Prize. She will present her installation, ‘Age of Noise’ (Era do Ruído), at the Arsenale Nord in Venice, Italy, between November 6 and November 29, 2026.

The 16-square-meter installation features spent ammunition, casings, and deformed projectiles collected from shooting ranges. These materials will be displayed in horizontal glass-topped vitrines, allowing the public to walk over them as if navigating an archaeological site. Galbetti describes the work as a way to treat the present as if it were already a subject for future excavation, highlighting the traces of ongoing practices.

The project is an expansion of research Galbetti began five years ago, originally conceived for the 7th Bienal do Sertão in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Venice exhibition will be curated by Xiaoyu Weng and Jemima Kulumba.
