Artist Ángel Cazorla promotes mural art for urban space recovery

Artist Ángel Cazorla, founder of the social project Perú Pincel, is promoting mural interventions designed to integrate culture with the recovery of public spaces and community development. By incorporating local cultural elements into artworks, the initiative aims to strengthen cultural identity and foster a connection between the population and their environment.

Following interventions in the Quispillacta community near the Ruqruqa waterfall, the project seeks to expand to urban areas in Huamanga. Planned works include a structure in Bellido Park, involving participation from fine arts students and educators. The project also aims to boost local tourism through artistic workshops, crafts, and food services.

Cazorla emphasized the technical necessity of proper surface preparation—addressing humidity, saltpeter, and cracks—and the use of protective layers to ensure the long-term conservation of the murals.
