Artist recreates Apollo statue via graffiti in Düzce

Graffiti artist Bedir Kılıç is recreating the Apollo statue, a significant archaeological find from the Konuralp Ancient Theatre excavations, on a retaining wall in the Bahçeşehir district of Düzce. Kılıç, a graduate of Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, is using spray paint techniques to depict the statue in a way that evokes the feeling of it having just been unearthed.

Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü visited the artist at the Demetevler neighborhood site to observe the work and participate in the coloring process. Özlü noted that the Apollo statue, discovered in 2022, is among the ten most important archaeological finds in Turkey and praised Kılıç for bringing Düzce’s history to life through modern art.
