Artistic community projects announced in Belgium

Several cultural initiatives are taking place in Belgium involving community participation and art. Artist Griet Dobbels will hold a lecture at SASK Roeselare on October 1, 2026, regarding her upcoming exhibition ‘GRONDVESTEN’ at Ter Posterie. The exhibition, running from October 17, 2026, to January 3, 2027, explores the relationship between individuals and landscapes, and Dobbels is seeking participants to help create a large-scale installation.

In Peer, the Bruegelmuseum is hosting the ‘Herschilderingen’ project from September 8 to 17, 2026. This collaboration between Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen, local museums, and the city of Peer allows residents with dementia to create a collective artwork inspired by the heritage of Pieter Bruegel. Following the exhibition, an auction of the works will be held on September 19 to benefit Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen.
