Artistic expression through sculpture, photography, and poetry

Artistic explorations of form and expression are highlighted through the works and philosophies of Constantin Brâncuși and Mihai Jitaru.

Constantin Brâncuși adopted photography as a means to maintain creative control over how his sculptures were perceived. After observing a photographer powdering a bronze sculpture to reduce reflections, Brâncuși sought to master the medium himself to ensure the light remained an integral part of the work. With technical assistance from Man Ray, Brâncuși used photography not merely for documentation, but as a final intervention to direct the viewer's gaze.

Mihai Jitaru integrates sculpture and poetry to explore the human condition. His poetic trilogy, including the volume ‘Departe de noi’ published by Editura PIM, connects the physical medium of wood with the essence of the written word. Jitaru’s work examines the relationship between humanity, nature, and society, moving from spiritual themes to critiques of contemporary social issues such as greed and hypocrisy.
