Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam to offer 2028 Olympic spots
The 54th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will take place in Rotterdam from October 20 to 25, featuring over 400 gymnasts from 84 nations. The event holds significant weight as the top three nations in each team event will secure qualification spots for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In the men’s category, Japan and China are considered favorites, with Daiki Hashimoto seeking his fourth consecutive individual all-around world title. Great Britain, the recent European champions, aim for a podium finish led by Alice Kinsella.
The women’s competition features the United States team, which has won every team final since 2011, supported by veteran Skye Blakely. Other notable competitors include Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, following her success at the 2024 Olympics, and Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour, who has the chance to become the first African woman to win the event. Russian gymnasts will compete under neutral status, though reigning champion Angelina Melnikova was among those denied a visa for the competition.
