Artistic initiatives promote heritage in Ponte da Barca and Barcelos

Various artistic initiatives are being held in the Minho region of Portugal to promote local heritage and creativity. In Ponte da Barca, the first edition of ‘A Barca, em traços e cores’, coordinated by Dr. Pedro Ricca, brought together nearly thirty artists from Ponte da Barca, Minho, Porto, and Galicia. The participants used drawing and painting to capture the municipality’s landscapes and landmarks, aiming to highlight the territory's visual richness and identity.

In Barcelos, the fourth edition of the ‘In The Box’ project has transformed 12 electricity boxes in the historic center into urban art pieces. Promoted by the Municipality of Barcelos through the Casa da Juventude, this edition focused on the theme ‘Traditional Arts and Crafts of Barcelos’. The project encourages youth participation and uses public spaces to reinterpret local cultural roots through creative expression.
