Artistic legacies in Bottmingen and Wiesbaden

In Switzerland, the Rehmann Museum is highlighting the architectural and artistic legacy of Erwin Rehmann. A guided excursion to Bottmingen focuses on three monumental works created for the local cemetery. These pieces, designed in collaboration with the Basel architecture firm Löw, Manz & Dörr, include a manganese alloy cross sculpture in the mortuary hall, a three-and-a-half-ton manganese bronze structure in the open air, and a bronze wall sculpture. These works are noted for their integration of sculptural form with the landscape.

In Germany, philanthropist Reinhard Ernst has donated a museum valued at approximately 90 million euros to the city of Wiesbaden. After building and selling two successful companies for several hundred million euros, Ernst established a foundation to fund the Museum Reinhard Ernst. The building, nicknamed the ‘sugar cube’ due to its shape, serves as a center for his art collection and philanthropic efforts.
