Artists Equity launches new independent film division

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have announced the launch of Artists Equity Independent Pictures, a new division within their production company, Artists Equity. Founded in 2022, the parent company is expanding its scope to specifically develop and support independent films.

The initiative aims to provide opportunities for emerging directors and storytellers. In a joint statement, the actors noted that independent cinema played a vital role in their own careers and expressed a desire to give voice to new authors with significant potential while meeting the growing audience demand for high-quality independent films.

In addition to this new division, Artists Equity is preparing for the release of the thriller ‘Animals’, directed by and starring Affleck. The film, which Affleck co-wrote with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray, is scheduled to be released on Netflix on October 9, 2023.
