Artlist restricts Seedance 2.5 access following subscription controversy

Artlist recently faced criticism after offering an annual AI Creator subscription that promised unlimited generations of ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 model. Within a week, the company removed the model from its unlimited plans and replaced it with a credit allowance worth significantly less than the original value. Artlist attributed the change to a “demand problem,” stating they had made a commitment “that we couldn’t keep.”

Analysis suggests the pricing model was unsustainable due to high inference costs. Estimates indicate that a single heavy user could potentially incur costs far exceeding the $500 annual subscription fee through raw API usage.

Separately, the creative platform AI Inspo has announced the integration of Seedance 2.5. The model allows for 30-second video generation with multimodal inputs—including text, image, video, and audio—and features improved character and scene consistency for longer shots.
