Artur Sahakyan places seventh in rings at European Championships
German rings specialist Artur Sahakyan achieved his largest international success to date at the European Gymnastics Championships, finishing in seventh place with 13.900 points. The 27-year-old from Essen made a successful final debut, showing significant improvement in precision and execution compared to his 50th-place finish at last year’s World Championships.
Armenian gymnast Artur Avetisyan won the gold medal in the rings discipline with 14.400 points. Other individual event winners included Artem Dolgopyat of Israel on floor and Gabriele Targhetta of Italy on pommel horse.
The competition faced disruptions during the pommel horse finals due to significant electricity problems, which caused the livestream and results ticker to fail, leading to a lengthy interruption for the final competitors.
