Arturia releases Pigments Play free software synthesizer

Arturia has released Pigments Play, a free, condensed version of its flagship Pigments software synthesizer. Designed for first-time sound designers and fast-moving producers, the instrument offers a streamlined interface that includes 100 expertly curated presets across genres such as pop, R&B, house, trap, and ambient.

The software features various synthesis methods, including modal, granular, wavetable, sample, harmonic, and virtual analog. Users can manipulate sounds using four macro parameters and over 50 filter modes and 20 effects. Each preset is accompanied by an audio-reactive visual interface to demonstrate how edits affect the sound.

Pigments Play is available as a free download for Windows and macOS, functioning as a standalone application or within a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It also features an integrated Sound Store providing access to over 200 additional artist- and genre-based sound banks. The software is compatible with Arturia’s line of hardware controllers, such as the MiniLab, KeyLab, and KeyStep.
