López Beltrán brothers hold private meeting with businessmen in Mexico City

Journalist Héctor de Mauleón has reported on a private five-hour meeting held on August 24 at the Magazzino restaurant in Mexico City's Condesa neighborhood. The gathering included Andrés Manuel López Beltrán and Gonzalo López Beltrán, sons of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, alongside former presidential aide Daniel Asaf and prominent businessmen Juan Domingo Beckmann (owner of José Cuervo) and Mauricio Garduño.

Reports indicate the group consumed high-end items, including a bottle of Sassicaia wine valued between 16,000 and 24,000 pesos. The meeting took place amidst political scrutiny regarding the detention of Fausto Corrales Rodríguez, a key witness in the homicide investigation of former rector Héctor Melesio Cuén. Video footage reportedly shows attendees reviewing news related to Corrales' legal proceedings during the meal.

The event has drawn criticism from opposition legislators, such as Kenia López Rabadán, who demanded transparency and accountability. Conversely, Ricardo Monreal described the meeting as politically normal, suggesting that the Attorney General's Office (FGR) should be the entity to investigate any potential legal irregularities.
