Arturo Martini exhibition explores 1924–1927 period in Anticoli Corrado
An exhibition is exploring the artistic evolution of sculptor Arturo Martini during his residence in Anticoli Corrado between 1924 and 1927. The period marks a significant phase in Martini’s work, where he sought to integrate modern sensibilities with ancient materials and local craftsmanship.
Martini’s stay was influenced by his collaboration with American painter and sculptor Maurice Sterne, who had settled in the village in 1910. The exhibition highlights how the local community, landscape, and artisanal traditions provided Martini with human scale and formal solutions that differed from isolated studio work. The display also commemorates the centenary of the ‘Arca di Noè’ fountain located in Piazza delle Ville.
