Arturo Medina leads Chihuahua State Peasant Congress

Arturo Medina, the PRI deputy coordinator and state leader of the National Peasant Confederation (CNC), led the 2026 State Peasant Congress in Chihuahua. The event brought together agricultural organizations, indigenous community representatives, and various local and federal officials to launch what Medina termed the "New Struggle of the Chihuahuan Countryside."

Medina criticized the Morena-led federal government, alleging that the agricultural sector has faced a sustained attack over the last seven years. He cited several grievances, including cuts to resources and support, the elimination of productivity programs, rising fuel and electricity costs, water disputes, and infrastructure neglect. He stated, “We are going to remove those enemies of the countryside. Morena does not deserve to be in government, because they have dedicated themselves to [harming] families that do work.”

The congress aims to organize the agricultural sector across the state and includes working groups to propose solutions to regional problems, as well as specialized training in technical agricultural improvements and efficient water usage.
