Arturo Ruiz resigns as Real Sociedad women's head coach

Arturo Ruiz has unexpectedly resigned as the head coach of the Real Sociedad women's first team. Ruiz decided to unilaterally and prematurely terminate his contract, which was originally set to run until June 30, 2027. To finalize the separation, he has paid the compensation amount stipulated in his contract.

The departure comes at a critical time for the club, following a 5-2 defeat against Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League qualifiers and just days before the return match. While the club has not officially confirmed his next destination, reports suggest the move may be linked to interest from another club.

Real Sociedad has established an interim coaching staff to manage the team until a permanent replacement is named. The interim group will be led by Maider Castillo, alongside second coach Fernando Torres and Aitor Resende, the first coach of the B team.
