Arturo Saavedra exonerated of sexual abuse charges in Ciudad Madero
Arturo Saavedra, the director of Secundaria Técnica 68 in Ciudad Madero, has been exonerated of sexual abuse allegations following a judicial ruling. Judge Diana Icela Ruiz Trejo issued a non-binding order, determining that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the charges against the educator.
As a result of the ruling, the precautionary measures previously imposed—including house arrest and suspension from duties—have been lifted. This allows Saavedra to begin the process of returning to his position as director. Saavedra noted that the legal proceedings had significantly impacted his reputation and his 30-year career in education.
Prior to the exoneration, students, parents, and teachers from the school had organized protests in front of the Fiscalía General de Justicia de Tamaulipas. The demonstrators demanded impartiality and expressed support for Saavedra, citing his long history of service and the improvements he had implemented at the school since taking leadership.
