Artvin hosts traditional bullfighting in high-altitude arena

The final bullfighting matches of the year took place in the Ardanuç district of Artvin as part of the 5th Culture and Art Festival. The events were held in a unique arena built on a rocky outcrop, with sections of the structure situated approximately 250 meters above the ground.

Organized by the Ardanuç Municipality, the festival included concerts and concluded with the bullfighting competitions. Approximately 56 bulls from Artvin, Rize, and Erzurum participated across seven different categories. The bulls, weighing between 380 and 950 kilograms, underwent horn and doping inspections prior to the matches.

A total of approximately 1 million lira in prize money was distributed during the festival, with the champion of the main category receiving 150,000 lira.
