Artvin hosts Turkish Paragliding Target Competition Championship

The Turkish Paragliding Target Competition Championship is currently being held in the Kemalpaşa district of Artvin from August 12 to 16. Organized through a collaboration between the Artvin Governorship and the Turkish Air Sports Federation, the event features 65 athletes from various cities across Turkey.

Participants take off from Atmaca Hill in Üçkardeş village, located at an altitude of approximately 300 meters, and attempt to land as accurately as possible on a circular target set near the Black Sea coast. Depending on weather conditions, pilots are scheduled to complete a total of 12 sorties. The points earned during this stage will influence the selection of athletes for the championship finals and potential national team membership, which can lead to opportunities in the World Cup.

Local officials, including Kemalpaşa District Governor Ayşe Karaca Nas and Artvin Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Hasan Kara, emphasized the importance of the event for promoting sports tourism and establishing a paragliding culture in the region. The competition is seen as a significant opportunity to showcase the natural beauty of Artvin to a wider audience.
