Artvin, Turkey sets 2026 honey base prices

The Artvin Trade Exchange, together with the honey pricing commission, announced the 2026 base purchase prices for honey produced in the region. Chestnut honey will be priced at 3,500 Turkish lira per kilogram, flower honey at 1,900 lira, forest‑rose (komar) honey at 2,600 lira, and linden honey at 2,000 lira. Honey produced using the karakovan method will receive a 30 % additional premium on these base rates.

The commission set the prices after reviewing laboratory analyses, production costs, quality criteria, labeling work and geographic‑indication considerations. The meeting was attended by officials including Osman Akyürek, chairman of the Artvin Trade Exchange Board, Seçkin Kurt of the Artvin Chamber of Commerce, and beekeeping leaders İbrahim Durmuş and others. Akyürek emphasized that the pricing aims to protect producers and create a fair market, noting that about 1,200 tonnes of honey are expected this year but only a small share is officially recorded. He called for increased registration of production and sales and for greater support to beekeepers.
