Aruba Airport renews ground handling agreements with Swissport and GenAir
The Aruba Airport Authority (AAA), operator of Queen Beatrix International Airport, has renewed ground handling concession agreements with its two existing providers: Aviation Ground Services (operating as Swissport) and General Air Services (GenAir).
Rather than initiating a new selection process, the authority opted to retain the established partners following a comprehensive review of existing arrangements. The new agreements establish an updated and largely standardized framework designed to meet current and future operational requirements, including safety, security, service quality, and regulatory compliance.
A key component of the renewal involves commitments to equipment investment. Both providers have pledged to invest in ground service equipment (GSE), with a focus on a gradual transition toward electric and lower-emission machinery. The AAA will continue to evaluate the necessary supporting infrastructure to facilitate this sustainability transition.
The new concession agreements are set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
