Aruba cleanup initiative collects 102 tons of waste

The Cuida Aruba initiative has successfully collected 102 tons of waste during its second major cleanup campaign across various locations on the island. Organized by CEDE Aruba, the operation involved coordination between government institutions, private companies, and various organizations, including the Bureau City Inspector (BCI), the Department of Public Works (DOW), and Serlimar Aruba.

To improve logistical efficiency, the organizers adjusted the distribution of collection points, consolidating nearly 26 locations into six strategic areas. This approach allowed for more effective container placement and targeted cleaning in 26 different localities.

In preparation for the National Cuida Aruba Day, specialized teams have already begun advanced cleaning efforts in 13 specific areas, including Palm Beach, Siribana, and various highway stretches. The initiative aims to transform environmental care into a continuous, shared responsibility rather than a one-time event. CEDE Aruba plans to host its next edition on September 26, with a focus on increasing volunteer participation from schools, sports clubs, and community centers to establish a permanent platform for environmental education and action.
