Aruba addresses elder care, economic risks, and youth sports
Aruba is focusing on several key social and economic developments. An elder-care symposium organized by Directie Ouderenzaken brought together over 20 organizations to discuss aging and dementia. Health Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras noted that approximately 121 people have been identified with Alzheimer’s or dementia, emphasizing the need for strengthened support and the upcoming Wet Langdurige Zorg legislation.
Economically, the Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) has warned of rising living costs, housing market pressures, and the potential impact of artificial intelligence. President Domhoff noted that while foreign investment can strengthen the economy, it may also reduce housing accessibility for local residents.
In sports, Aruba is sending an eight-person delegation, including three athletes, to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
