Aruba highlights cultural heritage through history and gastronomy

Aruba is highlighting its cultural and culinary identity through new historical documentation and upcoming international events. Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro has expressed appreciation for author Edgar “Eddy” Ras following the publication of his book, “Willem Rasmijn.” The work details the history of Willem Rasmijn, who discovered gold in Aruba, and explores the significant impact of that gold rush on the island's history.

In the culinary sector, Aruba has announced the third edition of the Auténtico Aruba Culinary Festival, scheduled for October 3–11, 2026. The multicultural event aims to showcase the island's diverse gastronomic influences, which stem from over 100 nationalities. The festival will feature international talent, including Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, American chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, and international mixologist Luca Cinalli, alongside local chefs and restaurants.
